Heather’s Pod

Our recently completed architectural project was an annex for a family home. The design objective was to create a living space for the grandparents that would allow them to maintain their independence and privacy while still being part of the family home. One of the key features of the design was the private courtyard, which provides an outdoor space for the grandparents to enjoy while still being protected from the elements.

The annex also has views of the shared garden, which was incorporated into the design to visually connect the grandparents with the rest of the family and the natural environment. The use of local and sustainable materials was a priority in the construction of the annex, as it was important to the client to have an environmentally friendly and low-maintenance living space. The use of timber flooring throughout the annex adds warmth and a natural touch to the overall design.

The project was successfully completed on time and within budget, resulting in a functional and visually pleasing living space that meets the needs of the grandparents and the entire family. The annex is a great example of how careful consideration of the client’s needs, attention to detail and use of sustainable materials can result in a functional and beautiful architectural design.
